Launch of Lonely Planet’s Temple Trips South India

Lonely Planet’s endevour to make travel special, as well as easy, has reached a new height with the release of Temple Trips South India travel guide.
This is a first in many ways. The world’s pioneer in travel writing comes to follow an ancient path of pilgrims in South India where pilgrimages, travel and experience are rolled into one.
Lonely Planet, with its 40 years of experience in the field of travel writing, believes that this book will bring soul food for contemporary Indian travellers. South India’s wealth of temples is an extraordinary combination of heritage, artistic beauty and antiquated rituals of worship that have withstood the test of time over hundreds of years.
The launch event started off with an auspicious invocation by Srimati Vijayalakshmy Subramaniam. The Fulbright scholar and Carnatic vocalist presented musical invocations to the many deities associated with the temples of South India.
For those who missed it, here’s a look at the performance.
