Soon Delhiites will ditch the bottle for some freshly brewed craft beer as the the capital has finally got a nod from the government to open microbreweries. However, it may be a while before the first one opens. Meantime, many new ones have mushroomed across Gurgaon over the past year, each one offering richer and more flavourful ales, lagers and wheat brews.

Of course, you have your favourites by now but when you’re in the mood to experiment, take your pick from these breweries.

Beer connoisseurs who swear by their favourite lager at Downtown in Sector 29 now have another option in Galleria Market. Uptown Fresh Beer Cafe, opened by the same brand, serves the same beer as Downtown – Wheat, Premium and Dark. Choose from burgers, hot dogs, pizzas and munchies to go along with the brew – the food is also delicious. The upbeat music will remind you of the 90s.

They’ve mixed science with food and come up with some really interesting dishes. But when it comes to beer it’s their signature Molecule Brew that’s a winner all the way. The tall golden brew is packed with a punch. If it’s not upto your taste, try Premium, Weiss or Roasted Malt beer. Nibblers like Air Bread and Puchka Shots are perfect to much with the beer. We’ve heard that they are soon going to start serving Blueberry beer.

Brewing four types of beer, choose from Amber Red, Premium Lager, Schwarzbier (Dark) and Weiss Bier (Wheat). While the Amber Red is rich in malty sweetness, the Dark beer is a heady combination of complex flavours like bananas, cloves, caramel, raisins and coffee as well. Our favourites from the menu are: Peri Peri Chicken Tikka Tacos, Cheesy Fries, BBQ Chicken Sausages, Chicken Lemongrass Skewers and Kolhapuri Lamb Chops.

Cyber Hub’s newest microbrewery serves four varieties – Indian Pale Ale, Wheat, Special Lager and Dark beer. They use Wayermann malts from Germany to brew these flavours and the wheat beer has a hint of banana and cloves. The Indian Pale Ale doesn’t live up to its name for it’s a strong and heady beer. Don’t miss the finger food, especially the lip-smacking wasabi prawns.

The menu at Lagom Kitchen + Brewery is huge and there are more than 150 dishes to choose from.

This brewery serves some of the best beer in this part of the city. Choose from Belgium Wheat, Fantastic Lager and Dark Knight, each one being as flavourful as it sounds. The Wheat beer is slightly citrus in taste with hints of orange and light, the Lager is a light one and Dark Knight is heavy with roasted special German chocolate malt. The menu is huge and choosing from more than 150 dishes is a daunting task. Their Oriental starters, burgers and pizzas are quite good.

The sheer size of this sprawling pub wows you from the moment you set foot in Factory by Sutra. Spread over four levels, it even has a terrace and garden that’s perfect for cool and windy evenings. When it comes to the beer – they brew four varieties – Bohemian Lager, German Wheat, Belgian Red Ale and Irish Black. The last one is really strong and dark, those who prefer a lighter touch should opt for the German Wheat. Their menu is an interesting range offering a section of Chandni Chowk delicacies, Kolkata rolls and Mumbai pav apart from the regular affair of Chinese and continental dishes.
