Off-roading adventures

There’s nothing that spells freedom like a road-tripping travel experience. It’s just about you and your hot wheels burning up the road for an exhilarating and immersive experience. For adventure junkies and those who enjoy things on the edge and like to ride the bump and dip of thrilling adventure rides, off-roading trips are the way to go.

Bad Road Buddies

The recent road adventure campaign helmed by Apollo Tyres, offered off-roading as an option for a rough and racy road trip.

Neeraj Kanwar, VCMD, Apollo Tyres, explained: “Bad roads lead to good places”. Off-roading trips are a good way to explore far-flung areas and regions with rugged terrains and bad road conditions, to conquer your thirst for an adventure travel road trip.

For at the end of a bad road trip, there is a reward waiting in the form of a panoramic vista, spectacular Instagram worthy photo opportunities, or a quiet picnic spot on a mountain top after a bone-crushing climb on your hot wheels.

Driving up the Ghats

The recent off-roading trip from Apollo Tyres, called “Bad Road Buddies” took off along the verdant Western Ghats along northern Karnataka and Goa, cruising a distance of 100km to Dandeli. This region is known for its breathtaking natural surrounds like the jungles of Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, off- the-beaten tracks, pristine nature vistas, sunset points, rafting options and some lively local communities and cuisine.

The trip was flagged off from Goa on curated off-roading vehicles, fitted with the new Apollo Apterra Tyres to go gripping up the treacherous terrain. The challenge was to drive through four curated off-roading tracks to reach the destination.

The tribe of drivers consisted of some of the most experienced off-roaders like Dr Bani Yadav and also avid travellers and photographers from different walks of life- lifestyle, travel and photography- some of whom experienced off-roading drive for the first time.

Adding to the diversity in the group was a band of enthusiastic and adventure-hungry young female drivers who put their driving skills to test. Post the drive, they regrouped for exchanging road tales and some downtime.

Riding with the Master Blaster

While the group was enjoined by travel enthusiasts, the highlight was cricketing legend, Sachin Tendulkar, brand ambassador for Apollo Tyres, leading the trip, driving the four-challenging roads at Quepem with enthusiasm. At a special press conference at Quepem, Tendulkar explained how the Apterra Tyres were a perfect fit for challenging off-roading experiences on difficult terrains. The company of drivers was blown away by Tendulkar’s off-roading skills which revealed the secret that the Master Blaster loves the excitement of a mean drive.

The entire adrenaline pumping trip wound up in the evening under the skies for an after-party with Sachin Tendulkar joining in to share the highs of an edgy road trip.
