The Covelong Point Social Surf School, 30 km from Chennai is run by Murthy, a fisherman turned surfer and the proceeds are used for education, health projects for the fishing village. The boys are certified life guards
Boards are provided for a beginner’s course for rent for all levels – from 4- to 65-year olds and visitors can sign for three- to five-day camps
The ATV off-road facility is 6km before Mahabalipuram and has both Polaris ATVs and dune buggies. You can ride these mean machines on the track or on the beach
Chennai Trekking Club, an NGO, focuses on outdoor recreation and environmental education. Weekend cycling trips along the coast on ECR and beyond have many loyal groups
Motor bike riding and dune bashing are catching on along Chennai’s beaches along the ECR and Kovalam for those who love a bit of daring
