Postcards from our August 2016 issue
MASAI MARA, KENYA: Roaring rain: I was in Masai Mara one evening, when it started raining. I was watching three lionesses and their cubs standing and getting drenched in the downpour. Once it stopped raining, one of the lionesses spotted something interesting in the distance and started walking towards it, the cubs joining her with great enthusiasm.

CULEBRA, PUERTO RICO: Tank-topped: After seeing pictures of colourful Old San Juan, I really wanted to go to Puerto Rico, and I was delighted when I found a direct flight that wasn’t expensive. I took the short flight from Isla Grande to Culebra and spent three nights there. I expected to see many people on the famous Playa Flamenco, but it was actually very quiet. I loved the contrast between the abandoned rusty tank and the perfect colours of one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
