Postcards from our February 2017 issue
LUXOR, EGYPT: Balloon with a view: One of the highlights of my trip to Egypt was the exhilarating hot-air balloon ride over the city of Luxor. We got a stunning aerial view at dawn, as the sun peeped over the east bank of the Nile River. We admired the early morning rays falling over the temples, mountains and patchy grasslands, and were surprised by how the smoggy effect added to the beauty of the scene.

HOI AN, VIETNAM: Vitamin sea: My partner and I spent a month travelling around Vietnam. One of the best places we visited was the historical port town of Hoi An, which has a spot on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. Beside the town, lies a hidden location: Secret Beach. One morning, just a few hours before sunrise, we went for an swim here and saw some small fishing boats returning. The beautiful blue water was sparkling brilliantly, when I spotted this fisherman wrapping up his morning shift.

PURI, ORISSA: Head in the sand: Puri Beach is famous for its sand sculptures, which go beyond run-of-the-mill castles. Often, there are elaborate works like these deities that I spotted in the sand. There are also camel rides in the evening.
