The wonderful thing about a traveller’s life is that you see an opportunity to discover the world everywhere. Every story that features a different part of the world serves as motivation, and, as your letters tell us, so many of you see Lonely Planet Magazine India as inspiration to plan, to save, and to travel. To find out more about this fascinating planet we live on, whether on actual holidays or, as importantly, via an armchair.

This is our eighth anniversary issue and we’ve lost none of our enthusiasm for discovering the unusual and for rediscovering the familiar – something that we always want to pass on to you. With this issue, you’ll want to hit the sun-struck Cyclades islands in Greece, and to discover the two sides of always-enigmatic St Petersburg in Russia. Then, there’s the Festival des Roses in Morocco in early May to plan for, and, closer home, five great, very doable getaways from Colombo in Sri Lanka. And, right here in India, wander with us into some very cool caves and cave temples. As a bonus feature, we have a beautifully melancholic piece on saudade in Lisbon – it’ll make you want to travel to Portugal to feel that same, otherwise unnamed, longing.

And, of course, we have a new cool cover design; we’re sure you love it as much as we do!

Happy travels and happy travel-planning this month!
