Easy Trips: 100 easy traveI ideas across India

Go beyond Hampi's boulders to explore its wealth of wildlife
Photographer: Ashish Parmar

We’ve been travelling India for eight years now, and it has been a wonderful journey of discovery. Over those 99 issues, we’ve found the beautiful, the heart-warming, the unusual, the unexpected. Each time a team has travelled to experience and photograph a destination, the writer and photographer have come back with stories, and, with few exceptions, the rest of Team LPMI has always wanted to pack its bags. This, then, is that inspiration in 100 travel ideas that span our subcontinent and invite you to go back to our collective roots.

We’ve divided these travel ideas into five sections: Awesome Activities, Culture Trips, Food Finds, Nature Trails and the Unexpected. These are only touch points to whet your appetite for India: the actual Easy Trips and other India stories are yours to browse through our free digital download this month, which you can access via the QR code in the magazine.

Of course, since we are collating these digital stories in their original form, as they’ve appeared in the 99 issues gone by (do notice and enjoy the evolving styles and layouts!), some numbers may have changed, some dining and stay options shut down. We’ve tried to update what is possible on the last pages of the digital special. But then, India is ever changing; that is just one aspect of what makes it so fascinating, so the ideas will endure. And India will endure.

From days spent paragliding over lakeside towns in the Himalayas and diving into the deep to spot manta rays and moray eels in Puducherry to spending whole weekends behind the potter’s wheel in Kochi and trying our hand at block-printing in Jaipur – over the years, we’ve spent a lot of time doing a lot of things.
